Hi,

I've got an older clothes dryer that I'm looking to give away. It runs fine - just a little loud. any suggestions as to who might be able to take it off of my hands? Hate to add to the landfill unnecessarily.

thanks.
LAR

A scrap metal dealer would probably give you a little money for it:

Offer it for free or for $20 on Facebook Marketplace or Nextdoor to anyone willing to come and take it.

If it works, put it on your curb with a Craigslist notice for curb alert...free working dryer. I did that with a 20 year old washer/dryer set and they were gone literally within the hour. Way easier than trying to barter $20 for something and dealing with the crazies or hauling it to the junkyard.

That’s a good point. FTGH on Facebook marketplace or Craigslist will have its gone asap.

Good suggestions already. Also consider donating to (LOCAL thrift shop, Durham Rescue Mission, ReStore, etc., Needy member of your religious or other community, etc...)

Takes a bit more effort, but could make a difference in someone's life.

FTGH on CL or FB is also a fine idea, I've done it a lot. (I have a neighbor who is also a rental-landlord, and he has taken a lot of my unneeded stuff lately. CONVENIENT)
