For the extended warranties in Florida, the dealers charge what the manufacturer asks for, I don't think they can mark it up, so it goes both ways.

I believe it's for Florida residents, not for Florida dealers, so even if you bought the vehicle out of state for the extended warranty, you have to buy it from the dealer. I'm not 100% on this since I never bought out of state when I lived there, but if you search for online extended warranties such as from Honda from various dealers, there are two states that you can't buy from if you live there, one is Florida. I forget the other.

Not really in terms of registration and car taxes. Florida has a one-time fee for new residents registering cars, but doesn't levy any annual excise or property taxes on cars.

NC, however, does have an annual car property tax based on value in addition to the "use tax" when you move to the state and register for the first time.

Car insurance is higher in FL than NC, however.

The average price of gas in Florida today is $2.46, according to Gasbuddy.com. NC average today is $2.48.

Tons of toll roads in FL, vs only a small number in NC.

Purchase a new car in Florida and you'll pay 6% sales tax, only 3% sales tax in NC.

I have no idea how the cost of maintenance and repairs differs between the two states.

But, one way or the other, cars vacuum up our $$ regardless of where we live! LOL Great scenery in both states, though, when driving around. Hahaha

If you can turn a wrench BMW's aren't a bad car to own. The manuals are easy to get, the diagnostic software is available on the grey market, there is a good deal of aftermarket parts and salvage parts since they are a popular car through out the world.
