I see from the forecast that the highs for the upcoming 10 days are predicted to be very, very hot (low to mid-90's). Is this normal for late May/early June in this area?

"Normal" as in "typical" no...

Unprecedented?.....Also no.

I can remember a hand-full of times in the past 10 years or so where the first week of June featured a string of 100+ temp days.

When I took the dog for a walk this this morning a little after 8am and it was already Hot, Hazy, and Humid....I knew it was going to be one of those days...and from the forecast it looks like the first of quite a few coming up.

No not normal for this time of the year. The average high for Raleigh now is 82. So we're seeing temps ~10 above average. But then, there was a period of 5 days last winter when the temp didn't rise above freezing. That was ~20 below average. The average temp is based on the 30 year mean of temps and includes the warm and cold days. So while not "average," these current temps are within the range of "normal." And not near record highs.

Wish we could sent a bit of that triangle warmth up to Michigan.....the highs around here are only in the low 70's, with a high of 73 forecast for Memorial Day. Geez.

73? That sounds just about perfect to me. You can take the 95 degree days and keep 'em.

That sounds wonderful about now! (I just went on a 3-mile walk and it was gross.)

Yeah, it's mild, but only 61 right now, at 11:00 am. So, it's chilly until late afternoon, when it gets into the low 70's. It's nice, but most days are cloudy with lots of wind (yesterday 30mph winds), thanks to the Great Lakes. Low 80's would be nice, but that won't happen for a while.

More often than not 80 or 90 temps in the Piedmont feel more like 90 or 100 due to dense humidity Haha. I doubt anyone wants that. When you sit in your rocking chair on the front porch you just drip sweat in that heat.

The lack of rain is a problem too with this heat. My squash, and cucumbers are looking poorly. My corn seems ok on the other hand. Had to water them all last night and this morning. Poor chickens have their wings spread and are panting.

I think it's about as hot in the Piedmont as SW Florida right now, and it's hotter in the triangle than in Miami.

The mountains are also a bit above normal. Up here near Boone it will be around 80.
