And it’s venomous (or is it poisonous?). Do you have a good soup recipe for it?

Oh no! Not venomous, lol. Hope he finds his owner, or he ends up at the vet school at the turtle rescue team (they help tortoises too).

Love those guys, actually saw one at Topsail Beach once - the owners used to bring it to the beach.

Almost hit one on the road yesterday. Turned around to move it somewhere safe, before I got there another driver stopped to do the same. +1 human race.

They are actually common around here. When they do subdivision construction they have to clear them from the site.

Got a friend who works them as a hobby. Has about a walled tenth of an acre with tortoise condos built into a middle berm. Has 15 or so of them.

And Mojave Max the tortoise coming out of hibernation is the unofficial harbinger of spring.

He's a cool looking little guy.

Not sure why one pic has a string tied around it - so I'm wondering if it's a joke post.

Do you mean tortoise and turtles in general, or this kind? I thought I read that it's from Africa originally, that it's not native.

Does your friend do tours? Sounds pretty cool.

They cut that off, they said it looked like some kind of leash which is why they thought it was an escaped pet.

I've seen people paint their shells, or glue things to them which is awful.
