Months ago, I saw a house for sale on Kundinger Road. It was out of our price range anyway but I don't think I could live on a road like that, and have to say it over the phone to someone, worried that they would mishear me.
Joe Peed Rd. I see it everytime I go to farm supply stores in granville county haha. My wife and I always crack jokes about how it must have gotten its name.
The Caddell Woods neighborhood has a Bratt Avenue and a Gross Avenue.
I can't tell you how many times I've shown homes on those 2 roads and my buyers say..."Not sure I want to live on a road name Gross or Bratt!"
Peed Road is named after the Peed Family, that used to own that land.
You'll find that developers "court" those families for a very long time until the older folks pass away. The heirs like the idea of naming the road or neighborhood after their parents' names.
I have to admit that it's a pretty cute and clever marketing scheme from the "Peak of Good Living" motto, but I would have a hard time giving someone directions to the Peakway with a straight face.
I mean, I'm sure it's a most outstanding and pleasant drive, but are we trying to compete with the Blue Ridge Parkway here?
