I've always assumed the last name was pronounced Rude. If so, then mispronouncing it as Hude Rude Road or Hood Rood sounds no better than Hood Rude Road.

I've always assumed the first name was pronounced Hude. If so, it explains why he preferred to be known as Waldo Rood.

This web site provides a cross-reference of name to number and vice versa.

Months ago, I saw a house for sale on Kundinger Road. It was out of our price range anyway but I don't think I could live on a road like that, and have to say it over the phone to someone, worried that they would mishear me.

Joe Peed Rd. I see it everytime I go to farm supply stores in granville county haha. My wife and I always crack jokes about how it must have gotten its name.

Poor Joe.

In the last 6 months, I have shown every home that came on the market on Gillyweed to 2 of my clients!

I had NO IDEA it was a Harry Potter thing! I just thought it was a weird name!

Those homes all sell in a minute!!!

The Caddell Woods neighborhood has a Bratt Avenue and a Gross Avenue.

I can't tell you how many times I've shown homes on those 2 roads and my buyers say..."Not sure I want to live on a road name Gross or Bratt!"

Peed Road is named after the Peed Family, that used to own that land.

You'll find that developers "court" those families for a very long time until the older folks pass away. The heirs like the idea of naming the road or neighborhood after their parents' names.

Apex Peakway

I have to admit that it's a pretty cute and clever marketing scheme from the "Peak of Good Living" motto, but I would have a hard time giving someone directions to the Peakway with a straight face.

I mean, I'm sure it's a most outstanding and pleasant drive, but are we trying to compete with the Blue Ridge Parkway here?
