No joke. On our way to the Outer Banks from Raleigh on I-64, we saw a McLaren. Out of nowhere. IT was a nice surprise.

Came across this list of MSAs ranked by income inequality while looking up something else. To be a 1%er in metro Raleigh takes $866,658 in income; compare that to $1,312,097 in Charleston SC or $989,409 in Charlotte.

https://www.epi.org/publication/inco...us/#epi-toc-20
(Norfolk and Riverside-San Bernandino are the only large cities ranked lower than Raleigh in inequality.)

That's not really what that means. They averaged the top 1% income earners...that isn't really the correct way to do that. What they should've done is ranked households by income and found the one right at 99%. That would be the cutoff of what it takes to "make it" into the 1%. The guy making $20m will skew the rest of the list.

One at our Harris Teeter recently. I just assumed it belonged to Tim Sweeney

I see Ferraris pretty frequently, usually near Whole Foods in Waverly.

Saw an orange Lambo spyder on Lynn Rd. yesterday. Horrible color but a nice car. And somebody was asking if he would stand out if he drove a 3 year old Lexus?

If you look at Table B3 of that link, it shows the threshold one needs to be in the top 1% of income in their metro region (these are 2013 numbers).

5 San Jose metro area $965K
8. San Francisco metro $785K
15. NYC metro $672K
21. DC metro $575K
28. Austin metro $543K

Luxury is only for them fancy northern cities. Here in podunkville we like to shop at the Wal-Marts and them thrift shops that rapper fella Macklemore sings about. Bargains y'all!
