There are bloggers and forums, but nothing exactly like you're asking for that I know of. Best bet is to subscribe to the N&O reporters and the current and former IndyWeek writers on Twitter.
Is there an online local news source? Someone who goes to town meetings, asks hard questions, investigates cozy relationships between business and town.
The N&O has done a good job in the past with investigative reporting. You can read most of their stuff online for free (just open in Private Browsing Window).

I wonder what fraction of the potential and former readership the N&O's politics has offended to the point of not subscribing, or even to the point of not taking the paper seriously.
McClatchy will convert the rest of its newspapers to electronic-only on Saturdays.
The change takes effect March 7 for the N&O. "Many of the features you enjoy on Saturday such as comics, puzzles, TV listings, real estate, home and garden and local sports coverage will now appear in expanded editions in print on Friday and Sunday." Will have to see what "many" means versus "all", but I suspect coverage of Friday night high school football is a casualty among others.
I love the headline about the change in their on-line version (https://www.newsobserver.com/):
"The News & Observer launches expanded weekend newspapers."
So, you stop printing the Saturday paper, and put some of the stuff in Sunday's paper. That equals "expanded weekend newspapers" ?
