FWIW, the previous owner of my house had the roof replaced by one of these storm chasers who were replacing roofs in the neighborhood after a hail storm. They put on the roof just before we bought. It is a cheap roof, I believe the shingles have a 10 year warranty and the workmanship was crappy. I had to have the company come back and fix a couple of things, I can't tell you how difficult that was. I would never choose to use this company. If I were replacing my roof on my own, I would also have a better roof installed.
Do you mind sharing the company? The one I am leaning toward right now is Feazel but I am also under no time pressure to talk to folks. They come with a 50 year shingle warranty supposedly.
4.5 on google...for a roofing company nonetheless...almost seems unbelievable.

Insurance is going to pay for you to get a 50 year shingle?
I don't believe Feazel is actually local - I could be wrong. Look them up on the county business registration site. I know Baker is one of the more popular local roofers, Artisan is another. Baker used to hand nail, now they charge extra.

Thanks I'll call Baker and Artisan as well.
I dunno, that is what their literature shows. Just like anything I am super skeptical. I went up on the roof with them (two story home). "This is a first" one said lol.

There is no shingle on the market with less than a 20 year warranty.

I believe it was American roofing, or something similar. I do not recommend them. They may not be around anymore.

Feazel has the office suite next to mine. Been there a couple of years now.
I don't know anything bad about them, other than I pick up more litter than ever before. They have invested more in the area than the typical storm chaser would.
Aggressive marketing, and aggressive with the insurance claim business. I have chatted with a few of them, including the office manager, and think they follow through with what they say they will do.
But, think about it.... Someone delivers you a "free" roof with little or no hassle. What would it take to have you give less than a 4 or 5 Star review?
50 year or Lifetime shingle warranties are very, very common. And almost meaningless. With a rapidly declining pro rata, no labor or disposal included, in 20 years, you may get a dime on the dollar to have a pallet of shingles dumped in your driveway.
Now, if you go with a manufacturer-certified "Master Installer" and buy all their accessory items, you MAY get all labor and materials warrantied for 10 or even 15 years.
But, prorated 50 years? "Lifetime?" Whatever!
We replaced our 25yo roof this year. Used Artisan and had great service, job well done. We paid out of pocket in full, no insurance. Roof had no damage but it was getting very old. Job was done in a single summer day. We had them come back a few wk later and do complete new gutters, with covers. Very pleased with both jobs.
I got this thing in the mail today from a storm chaser saying that they could see from the street that my roof had hail and wind damage similar to other houses in my neighborhood.
