Is there anywhere in the Triangle where one can find homes with natural gas heat? They could be new construction or old, although I cannot afford a custom-built home. I just prefer the feel of the warmer air produced by gas as oppposed to a heat pump.

Edit. I see from an older thread that 70% of the homes in the Triangle have gas furnaces. It mentioned Apex, Holly Springs and Fuquay. Do you agree? Does that figure include propane heat? //www.city-data.com/forum/ralei...-gas-heat.html

Pretty much everywhere. Down at the coast is where it’s a different story.

There are a great many places with natural gas heat.

If you prefer to live in a rural area, you may not be able to find it, but there really are many choices, new and old homes, with natural gas.

Rural areas often have propane furnaces. Heating is similar to natural gas in that no electric phases are involved. Nice and toasty.

Similar but considerably more expensive.

I would not want to spend more than $350,000 and prefer an over 55 community.

I think there are some over-55 communities around Wake Forest. There's natural gas in and around Wake Forest, and believe it or not, natural gas is filling in between there and Northward towards Youngsville--even on fairly sparse roads, due to infill neighborhoods being built. I'd check it out.
