Update on newsobserver.com...

We have some acts to go with dates for this year's Raleigh Downtown Live free-concert series. There's still no one for July 12, and every other date will have from three to five more acts on the bill. But here's what we've got so far (and guess which one I'm diggin'):
May 31 – The Wailers, Saunter, Jive Mother Mary
June 14 – Cravin' Melon
June 28 – Carbon Leaf
July 26 – Old 97s
Aug. 9 – Brian Howe (Bad Company), Jim Bianco
Aug. 23 – Eve 6

Actually, this is the best kind of venue where you can actually interact with others who are enjoying music in an outdoor setting. Nothing better than bringing a community together than music & picnic in the park.

Check out the West Village Courtyard on fridays during the summer (6-8), Brightleaf Square Fridays (7-9), Parker and Otis Fridays (6-8), American Tobacco, various dates throughout the summer.[/quote]

Thanks for the tip. This is more our style. I also like the music at WSM on Sundays.

And there is definitely a good variety of people at these events because of the free factor. Always a good thing!
