A 31-acre slice of Cary is slated for a new residential development calling for a mix of single-family homes and townhomes.
I wonder if they'll still do the extension

I'm not completely familiar with Cary’s comprehensive plan and I cant quickly find a future transportation plan that is a separate document, but according to the Historic Carpenter Special Planning Area section, which is separated out here, they have it shown, so they should be able to make the developer deed the right of way and may be able to make them pay for or build the road as part of the development.

Edit: Ok, I found the transportation section. They call it “Move” to be fancy I guess. https://www.townofcary.org/home/show...35512067600000

Shows a 4 Lane with landscape median section. The map is about midway through on a page marked as 230.

There is no question this link will be built eventually, but the question is whether the developers will be required to build a portion of it or not, and if so, how much of it.

They did a feasibility study several years ago to come up with an alignment for the extension, which probably means they will tell these developers to build the portion of it that's within their property .

I would bet the bridge over the railroad will not be built by a developer, though. That is likely to be a town or state project at some time in the unfortunately distant future. How long did it take for Cary to finally start building the Morrisville-Carpenter RR bridge? At least a decade from when they first started planning it, if I recall correctly.

Here is the feasibility study, which included a conceptual alignment for the connection. It was linked in this thread a few months ago.

Town of Cary held a public hearing last week regarding this project

https://youtu.be/dCzuS_Y0yhw?t=7612

This is what they propose---

Only 30 feet away from my backyard fence. They'll connect Addenbrock Dr. and Mccrimmon pkwy. Big project. The farm will be forever gone like other nearby farms, also the deers.

If you're just 30 feet away, surely you didn't think the house you live in, that was built under the exact same circumstances would be the last one built, did you? I mean when streets dead end in the woods and there a sign saying future road extension, did you think they had some quota of signs lying around they had to use up?

^ I was surely fully expecting there'd be future development from day one I moved in. But didn't expect this close as just 30 feet away.

I mean, it's super obvious if you just look at a map how close it's going to be:

Whomever built all those homes there made bank and ran knowing full well that road was going to be right behind people's fences.

^ No. My house is on Addenbrock Dr. at Mccrimmon at the Park, north of the farm and future community. The other side.
