I've driven by twice a day for years and have never noticed a stench. Yate's Mill Park is directly across the road from the pastures, and I never noticed an odor there either.
I have a convertible. The top is down if the temperature is above 60 degrees.
If you drive with the windows up and the A/C on, you may not notice it as much.
You're right about Yates Mill park. I used to go there often after work to walk on the trails and didn't notice the smell
I suppose it's like the people who live in The Park at West Lake. Some notice the stench of the water treatment plant (probably if the weather conditions are right), but others say they never notice it.
I did notice that they have removed the fencing on the pasture closest to the creamery, so my guess is that they have diverted the cows to a different pasture now that the store is open.
Finally had a chance to stop by today. Nice facility. Surprisingly, they don't have the pints of Vanilla, Almond Butter or Chocolate on site, though they do have the other flavors. (He said they were available at HT!) He said they are planning to make those available as "fill with the scoop" from the containers they use to fill cones/cups. It would also be nice to have an option for a 1 gallon container vs having to buy a 3 gallon one.
Note that the HT pints are licensed recipes, not genuine Howling Cow from the NC State cows. I haven't done a taste test to see if there's a discernable difference though.
I also don't think HT has the basic vanilla or chocolate.

Do you happen to remember if they had Cherry Brick Road or Campfire Delight?

I've heard other people say it doesn't taste the same from HT.
I haven't tried it from HT myself, I work at NCSU so I always opt for the real thing.

I'm pretty sure they had the Campfire Delight, but not sure about the other. I was looking for Butter Almond, which they did not have (except by the scoop). They do have Vanilla, Strawberry and Chocolate, but they are in 4-ounce cups, and I think you had to buy the full box of 12 (or 20 ?) cups.

I would just be buying it by the scoop, so I'm sure they'll have something I like.
Thanks!
