The council allowed a Sheetz to be built in people's backyards with no public input. Nobody had any idea it was coming until the "coming soon" construction sign went up. They have consistently failed to plan ahead for proper infrastructure. They all need to go, CAC or no CAC.

Was it zoned for a Sheetz? If not, they would have to ask city council for a rezoning which would require neighbors in the vicinity of the property to be notified. But if it was zoned for uses such a Sheetz......well that’s allowed without city council input.

I have a long email thread on this with the council and the development board. There is a restriction on putting gas stations in residential neighborhoods but this Sheetz applied for an exception and got it. They also got waivers on the buffer zone and a few other things. It is an eyesore with a giant wall of blocks that makes it look like a fort. It is on New Falls of Neuse/Wakefield Plantation Drive if you ever want to see it in person.

I asked the board and council when public notice was made and which meeting this was discussed and they could not answer. I got a long-winded email that was basically "we don't use subjective criteria so go about your way."
