Well it'll be below freezing on Friday morning so any rain/snow mix that does fall Thursday could certainly melt/freeze if temperatures are low enough to allow for it to stick

I consider myself to be a snow lover sometimes. Just a few weeks ago, I took my kids up to Boone for a mid Saturday small snow fall. It was only a few inches on grassy surfaces, but it was enough to build a small snow man and have a few snowball fights. Interestingly, Boone averages around 35 inches of snow annually. By comparison, Detroit gets 33 inches annually. For the snow lovers out there, a trip to Boone is a nice treat for sure!

Wut....if we get any snow we'll be closed on Friday. It's going to be in the 20s on Friday morning.

And the temperature will be high enough that anything that does accumulate will disappear pretty quickly.
Highly inaccurate info there. Folklore is not fact.

Anyone else with tree fruit in blossom disgusted by the projected low Friday? This is the first time my plum tree has ever blossomed and I've got to pull out all the stops to try to save them from succumbing to the cold.

I'll take that bet. School will be closed Friday. Temps in the 20s, snow, rain mix? Closed

It's not folklore. It's direct from what was heard on the news this morning. But whatever.

January 2000. Zero chance of accumulation. They couldn't stress this enough.
We had 27" in North Raleigh.

Ground temp is irrelevant. It's not June or July.

Seems like you're the one going with folklore now.

Believe what you want. I'm not going to argue with you.
