I don't know that it's uniquely American ... I follow a couple of YouTube vloggers in the UK, and I remember they had trouble finding "loo roll".

In France, Italy, and many other countries in the Middle East and Asia people use bidets. And, this has indeed been discussed...

What's possibly more interesting is, what if anything was/ is in short supply in France?

I found small bottles of hand sanitizer at Dick's Sporting Goods (Brier Creek) today. $1.25 each. I got one for me and one for husband. At the front register.

We haven't found anything lacking. I was even able to get a minor operation done at the hospital in Nice without any problems. There seems to be a lot more compliance with the confinement rules in France. Maybe because they are enforced more strictly: 135 euro fine for no mask on public transportation. We are now in phase 2 ---
- restaurants can open Monday with the two meter rule in effect.
- 100 km travel restriction is lifted

I will try to fly back home to Todd, NC when more flights become available next month. We have a small b&b in the mountains, but I am expecting a Very slow season.

Because so many of us know so much that simply isn't true. Blame lies on all aspects of media.

Husband went grocery shopping at Lowes (Strickland road) last night and said the toilet paper isle was FULL. Not with the known toilet paper but with boxes full of no brand toilet paper.

He said they had a few samples so you could see/feel what you were buying.

We didn't need any so he didn't buy, so I can't tell you first hand any other information.

Maybe he was in the paper towel section? Ouch.
