I’m not sure why that’s stunning. The airlines can’t run flights with 20 people on them. People should probably understand that flying is higher risk right now.
Airlines can't have all their planes sitting in one place, they do have to reposition them, believe it or not. Airline travel is down 80%, maybe more, but it's not zero. And if that means they fly with 20 people on board, that's what they do. When that plane and/or crew are needed elsewhere, off they go.
All transport vehicles do repositioning. Cruise ships do this (and they sell these trips at special sale prices), planes have to do this for demand, maintenance, etc.

Not sure what the point is related to this discussion. If they were running a crowded flight I’m sure there was a reason for it.
Are they social distancing in subways in NYC? Nope.
Flying should be for emergencies only. What other businesses are being forced to operate at a loss? Airlines can’t just shut down like other businesses.
On buses in Raleigh, they have seats marked off now that you have to sit in that are 6 feet away from each other.
