I am super happy my kid's school is all virtual and so is she (high school junior taking AP classes), but I do feel for folks who have to work at jobs outside the home and arrange for childcare for younger kids. That is a nightmare and I'm not sure there is a good solution, but I think virtual school is the best we can do right now.
I think it’s pretty unlikely there will be a vaccine that’s 100% effective, sort of like how the flu vaccine isn’t even close to 100%. You will likely always have kids with covid.

Yes, but it won't be able to spread unchecked.

The chickenpox vaccine, the pertussis vaccine, and many others aren't 100% effective, but they do offer protection and are required for school. COVID19 should be the same IMO.

It may have been Scott Gottlieb that said last week on twitter that he was hoping for 50-70% efficacy of a COVID vaccine. Anything much higher than that simply isn't all that reasonable to expect.

I could have written this. All of it. Same aged kids and too small a house. I woke up in the first real panic I’ve had since March- as a result of virtual school starting next week. I want to wake up from this nightmare.

I heard that also from Fauci. He said that 50-70% would be excellent.

Currently we're publicly reporting and shutting down schools due to single covid cases. It makes no sense.

Won't there still be asymptomatic cases? Or are we going to find out that the current tests are complete junk?

Flu spreads unchecked, why would covid be any different?

Really! Schools are shutting down due to one case. I thought they were supposed to conduct contact tracing and quarantine those with close contact for 14 days? I believe that is what WCPSS has said they would do.

It's sad for the businesses and can't or did not find a loop hole to operate. It's like they are being punished for following the mandate.
