Gay/gay friendly male urologist or NP? (Durham: approval, health)

Hi, I'm looking to find a gay or friendly urologist in the triangle area or in Eastern NC. I feel more comfortable with a gay dr (or Nurse Practitioner) but friendly will do. Again, it's just about my comfort with being fully myself. Looking forward to your replies.

I have been to a couple of Urologists in the area because of kidney stones and not once was I asked about my sexual preference, nor was I told what theirs was.

How can you tell if a practitioner is gay friendly or not??

Its the OP's preference. Why do you need to chime in? Some people prefer male doctors, some female, some gay, some young, some old. Its a personal preference and not subject to your approval.

I was explaining my experience in the area and asking, I wasn't judging the OP's request, I just didn't know how someone even knows the sexual preference of their doctor.

I wasn't approving nor disapproving of the OP's desire haha My sister is gay, I have gay friends, this is just something I have never even considered. smh

Tom Polascik, MD in Durham is a great urologist, .... member of national societies, etc etc. But also he is majorly compassionate about treating patients like Family. I'm an acquaintance (not a patient), but when I read your post, he leapt to mind.

Hmm, I don't think I did "jump on him" and I don't get why you would say that. I would suggest your question should be: Why did he respond to the OP? If one can't help answer the question, then why engage the OP? Especially when there is an undercurrent of judgey-ness in the response, which is exactly what the OP is seeking to avoid in his healthcare provider.
