Hello and thanks in advance for any information you can share!

I've noticed that there are a LOT of counties in NC and that plenty of rules that apply in one county do not apply in another.

Before we anger the powers-that-be by owning reptiles & amphibians:

Does anyone know of any restrictions on the types of animals you're allowed to own in The Triangle area?

Does anyone know where I can get specific information regarding the animal rules/restrictions/allowances for any specific county?

Many thanks!!

Patsy

You may find that pets are regulated at the city/town level, so that is where you should look, unless you are going to move to an unincorporated area within a county.

For Wake County, the animal control ordinance is at:

WakeGOV.com - Animal Control and Adoption Center

Town of Cary:
Police - Animal Control (http://www.townofcary.org/depts/pddept/animal.htm - broken link)

City of Raleigh:
City of Raleigh | Animal Control Information / Dog And Cat Tags (http://www.raleighnc.gov/portal/server.pt/gateway/PTARGS_0_2_112615_0_0_18/Cat-1C-2007509-140950-Animal_Control_Informati.html - broken link)

Apex (adopted this ordinance, but otherwise uses Wake County):
Public Notice - Animal Control Ordinance Adopted (http://www.apexnc.org/public_notice/adOrdinance.cfm - broken link)

Holly Springs:
Animal Control Department, Holly Springs, NC (http://www.hollyspringsnc.us/dept/safety/animal.htm - broken link)

Garner:
Animal Control

That's all the ones I know. Do you have a particular area you're looking for?

Thanks for the helpful information! We aren't sure of what area we're looking at - if you could see all the little placemarkers on my Google Maps you'd know just how undefined my searches have been!

We have some reptiles and I was told to be cautious about the areas we will be investigating. I think we might need a few months just to visit half of the Google maps I've saved!

Thanks again, everyone!
