The first Covid-19 case in Alaska was a pilot. Whether he caught it on a plane or not is a different story.
Unless it was from a co-worker, the cockpit air generally has a dedicated source and is delivered at a higher pressure than the cabin air in order to prevent smoke from entering.
Bottom line right now is NC's hospitalized cases are still trending upward. I personally would like to know primarily how people across NC are catching the virus and why this is still such a topic of debate. Are people with symptoms not staying at home? Are people with symptoms not wearing masks? Are asymptomatic or presymptomatic infected people not social distancing or wearing masks? Are people not being careful enough or not getting tested around vulnerable populations? Do we not know?

In my opinion, no, they aren't.

I live in Durham and everywhere I go people are wearing masks. And, I mean I went to Home Depot once and then just drove around downtown because I needed change of scenery. The only time I saw people not wearing masks -- Duke East Campus. All those 18-20 year olds thinking they are invincible.
So I feel the same -- why is the number trending upward? Is it because we have tests now, or are people just being stupid and selfish? Another reason is of course Memorial Day gatherings. They reported that a lot of people didn't follow the rules... and here we are after 14+ days.

Yes! Memorial Day was the official beginning of summer and lots of people outside without a care in the world! Now, 2 weeks later, the numbers are going WAY up! And in 2 more weeks, I bet the numbers will spike again because of the protests. Like kids with no attention span. Its scary. And my husband and I will continue to order as much as we can online so we dont have to go to the grocery store.

Where are the people hospitalized? Are they mostly people from nursing homes? Meat packing plants? <insert other congregated living place here>? Are these people hospitalized because they got covid, or are they hospitalized for other things and tested positive or have antibodies?
Knowing that hospitalizations are going up (actually today they went down 50 I think) really is meaningless without context.

Yes, the raw number of cases is rising because of increased testing, although the percentage of positives tests has bounced around a bit; its currently at 10%, at the high end of its range. If people were more careful to wear masks, physically distance, etc. the percentage of positive tests would be declining.

My daughter is a nurse in the ED at a local hospital and she said that people are driving up, walking up, coming in by ambulance...in a 2 hour time frame, she said that 5 people were admitted that tested positive.

These are people that are being ADMITTED to the hospital? If so, that doesn't match up with the data being provided to the public.
My guess is a large number of these people get sent home. More people are going to get tested because testing is now available for anyone with symptoms.
