Hello-Question for people who know local laws. We have some friends whose family member wants to just do a small, less than 10 people, wedding in Wake County. They have an officiant and they were thinking to just show up at a local public park, in a more private spot, and perform a mini ceremony. Is there any reason that the park needs to be notified if they want to do this? Thank you.

The parks are open, it's perfectly legal to have a gathering of ten people and I routinely observe gatherings of groups of people that exceed that number. Might I suggest Blue Jay Point park? Plenty of parking near incredibly beautiful and secluded spots. One spot in particular comes to mind, the boardwalk that wraps around the lodge (all hard surfaces for walking and parking right there).

If there is a professional photographer getting paid, they may need a permit:

Thank you and I think that place is wonderful as well. I appreciate the input.

Okay, yes, thank you, that is a real consideration they should ask about.

Pretty sure you can go up to 25 people outdoors.

Just be prepared to be shamed by every social media outlet on earth.
