I’m looking for a current idea of what people are paying (aside from having a voucher) for a dog spay. I just received a quote for $550 which included a $150 discount which to me seems high. Curious if anyone has done this recently what you paid. Thx.

I would find a "spay" clinic - those doctors make their money on volume. A regular vet is going to charge more. Female dogs also cost more.

We just paid around $300 a few weeks ago to have our 6mos old kitten spayed. Not exactly the same as a dog of course but I agree the qoute you got seems high. I would shop around a bit.

I urge you to find a vet that will do a laparoscopy procedure. This is far less invasive and far less painful. Just as effective as the traditional method but with far fewer complications. Believe me I speak from experience and would NEVER again opt for anything but laparoscopy when spaying an animal.

My vet who does the lap procedure is in Fuquay. If it's not too far I can DM you his practice if you like. Not sure of the cost tho. He treated my dog for the complications from the invasive procedure done by another vet.....

good deal on neutering and I can personally vouch for Dr. Bartfield...she's great !

I had a cat spayed elsewhere about 2 years ago at a spay neuter clinic that was closer to me. Paid about $85.00 total and that included the rabies shot and excellent service.

We had our girl (45 lbs at the time) spayed at Complete Pet Care Falls Pointe. We got a rescue discount and it was 4 years ago, so it was less than $200. They did a lap spay.

We had our boy (60 lbs) neutered at the same place back in June and it was a bit over $350. Neuters are usually much less expensive.

We just got our other boy (80 lbs) neutered at East Wake Animal Hospital. It was only $160. But then we had to take him back because his inflatable cone (that we purchased on our own) didn't keep him from licking his incision and it got infected. It was another $100 for the visit, the staples, antibiotics and trazadone to chill him out. Oh, and a plastic cone. So way reasonable on the prices if you don't mind the drive!
