Hi,
I currently live in the triad ,Greensboro to be exact. I one day want to live as close to the beach (Wilmington) that I can while still being affordable.. close to the beach for me is anything 2 hrs or under drive time. It beats the 3hr and something drive now. What are some good areas that I could find a townhouse or condo for that's 150,000 or less? Is that realistic at all? I'm afraid the closes I might ever get to be to the beach is gonna be living in Burlington ;p (no offense but no thanks) with the way RDU prices and that whole aera has gotten ... I dont plan on moving for another 10 to 15 yrs so who know what the markets will be like, heck by then Burlington might be out of my price range... but as of now does anyone know what areas that are about 2 hrs or less away from beach in that price range?
With under two hours driving time, your choices are limitless. Fayetteville and Jacksonville are close to Wilmington as well as a lot of smaller towns.
If you're wanting to be near Raleigh check out Clayton. If you're just wanting to live at the beach why not just move there? Plenty of houses in the 150 range Oak Island.

This. If I didn’t need to be within 30 mins of RDU, I’d consider SE side of Clayton to be closer to beaches.
Thanks for the input so far! Someone had mentioned clayton to me in the past. I grew up in Pilot Mtn and moved to Winston-Salem around 2000. I have been living in Greensboro now since 2010..I have a house here but Greensboro never has grown on me.. too much of a college town and transit stop. People come and go way to quick here it seems. It feels like everyone my age has already moved on to other cities.. My dad whos 69 still lives in Pilot so that's the reason I'm not moving closer to beach now.. I want to be near him. I always have herd Fayetteville was a lil ruff with it being a base..

I live in Southport, about 3 miles from Oak Island. Not much in the $150k range on Oak Island. Most in that price range are mobile homes. Boiling Spring Lake is an option. Definitely more rural but you can buy a smallish (1200 sf) ranch home for that price, and still only about 15-20 min from beach.

Work on the skills and income end of the equation.
EARN what you need to afford a still rather modest $$ place like Wilmington
I don't understand your question. Lots of places with cheap house within 2 hours of the beach. But the catch is there are no jobs.
