On Tuesday, Capitol Broadcasting Co. and its development partners Hines and USAA Real Estate unveiled plans for a massive new mixed-use destination and the latest expansion of CBC's American Tobacco Campus in downtown Durham.
Plans call for three new towers plus structured parking at the site of the former University Ford property west of ATC – including a new multifamily high-rise up to 14 stories and a pair of state-of-the-art, mixed-use office buildings showcasing Hines’ newly developed all-timber construction concept.
What do you think? Will parking get better in that area or worse? I know they are including parking in the plan but will it be enough? Seems like the last few times I went to DPAC, parking was difficult to find.
I love it but echo the parking woes because on DPAC show nights its hard to find parking to go to the American Tobacco campus. It looks like in one photo there might be an additional parking deck planned.

There's a couple decks in that picture that are "new" if you can spot them. There's a new one in the photo across from the existing North Deck. There's also one that's camouflaged of sorts by the existing South Deck. You can see the entrance to it down from the existing service road by the existing South Deck. I'm really not worried about parking concerns with this, it's egress/ingress I'm worried about.
It's an utter nightmare on game days that are couple with DPAC days to get off the campus as an employee. I really think some rework if the existing traffic flow by the 147 interchange(s) needs to happen if this occurs.
That or a new dedicated on/off ramp from ATC to 147 somehow.
