Okay, we’ve changed our minds and we are now looking into the surrounding area of Raleigh. I loved Roseville. My area was quiet and walking distance to trails and dog park. I was 5 mins to the grocery store and 10 mins to the nearest theater (we enjoy dinner and a movie on some weekends). Any recommendations on areas?

Theaters? I even remember when people used to go to those.
East Chapel Hill and South Durham are good options and convenient to The Streets at Southpoint in South Durham which is a nice outdoor entertainment area with shops, restaurants and a 17 screen theater.
Naturally you'll want to check out Rolesville beside Wake Forest.
Now I personally am not a fan of the hodgepodge of subdivisions that dominate Northern Wake County, but at least it's not an industrial area some areas South of downtown Raleigh seem like.
But Durham and Chapel hill along I-40 is quite nice and probably more sophisticated-feeling than Rolesville in Northeastern Raleigh area.

The OP is not talking about Rolesville. The OP is moving from Roseville, CA.
On paper, it would seem to me that Cary is probably the closest experience compared to Roseville.
My son just moved up to your area this month from the San Jose area. They really like it up there.
We moved from the Bay Area to NC about 15 years ago and bought in North Raleigh by Falls Lake. We have the greenway trails that go through our neighborhood and along the Neuse River to the Lake and while there are not any dedicated dog parks within walking distance there are a couple within a short drive. However this area is so dog friendly and with all the parks, trails, lake etc you will have lots to do with your pups!
There are also plenty of grocery stores, movie theaters, restaurants etc close by as well.
We originally were looking at Florida and have now chosen NC. We were living in Roseville, CA and I loved it! Though our area was quiet, we were close to everything - grocery store, parks, theaters, walking trails. The casino was 10-mins away, airport 30 mins and easy access to several freeways and highways. Also a few hours drive to the mountains of Lake Tahoe.
Moving because CA is just getting more expensive (and the politics) and I can't talk husband into staying. I want neighbors, I just don't want to hear their conversations.
