I won't go into details but had some work done on my property. They did very shoddy work and aren't responding to my wanting to get it done correctly/getting it rectified.
Time to file a complaint...anybody ever done so via the attorney general or BBB , which approach is best ?
Please, not a thousand questions...just if you or someone you've known have ever filed a complaint which approach worked best.

If it's a licensed contractor you can try:

BBB and attorney general are a waste of time usually AFAIK.

To be honest contractors can basically get away with whatever they want.

I found them on the web, they had all good recs. but not many of them. Not sure if they are licensed or not but would def. think so...how would I find out for sure about the license ?
Not a 30K job ( per your link) if not licensed but cost several thousand dollars.
Thank you for responding , I am very upset about this .

Is it a trade that requires a license?

Your best recourse is post on their facebook, yelp, etc. pages. As long as you tell the truth the business can't sue for slander. To make a difference you have to hit them where it hurts, their wallet. You make noise where potential customers may learn of the business the business would be foolish to not make corrective actions.

Not sure the AG can do anything if the person is not licensed. Not sure what the BBB does, as noted best recourse is twitter, your local nextdoor and so on. I'm not sure how many people pay attention to BBB reviews (I don't) so that may make you feel better but likely has no teeth - it's not like the BBB can MAKE them fix their work.

Giving reviews is helpful - to future customers. A lousy review isn't going to get this company to take care of OP's problems or refund any of his money.

OP it would be helpful to know more about what KIND of work was performed. If there isn't a licensed involved, your alternatives are limited.

No harm in filing a report with the BBB. But looking into small claims court might produce a better result - assuming you've got the proper documentation and evidence.

I sincerely hope you didn't pay in advance, but only gave them deposit.
