Got it, so you're an engineer at a hospital so you superficially talk to nurses and physicians and healthcare workers. But you don't directly work on a COVID-19 floor in a hospital; therefore, you have no idea what stress those workers go through on a day to day basis.
Reminds me of who to ask for the best info in an office. It's not the office workers, it's the secretary. They are like flies on the wall and see all.
Sometimes people can be overdramatic, like that "viral" nurse who said people were denying the virus exists up until dying and CNN ate it up (as did some posters on here). Turns out, she was full of it, as several reporters started asking around and came up with nothingburgers.
If you look at the NC Covid dashboard, hospitalizations are *fairly* steady for our area. What's driving the numbers increase is Greensboro/Triad and Charlotte/Metrolina. The good news is, those two areas have massive amounts of ICU beds still available.
I was sad to read today that David Maas died of the virus. It may not seem like local news, but I saw him and his wife perform their Quick Change magic act at a Durham Bulls game last year. He was only 57.
It's really sad there's a bad virus that is killing people but the media has pushed mask so much the other steps (the most important) such as social distancing is simply ignored because people feel safe with wearing a mask. I really don't think most of y'all are paying attention. Next time you go to the grocery store step back and just watch people intermingle. They're so impatient or scared to be in public they can't even wait for someone to find their item and will walk right up on them to get theirs.
There is virtually no transmission risk with 2 masked people spending a few seconds in proximity of each other.

True. But there's also virtually no transmission risk with two unmasked people spending a few seconds in proximity of each other, either. In fact, transmission rate is very low as long as you stay 6' and spend less than 15 minutes together.
Again, the biggest prevention is social distancing, not mask. I see very little social distancing among people wearing mask. They're just carrying on like life is great because they're a soldier with a shield.

LOL, okay. And sure, these folks with MBAs who are the admin think they know it all and tell doctors and nurses what to do - they have no idea how to take care of a patient. They just try to save a dollar.
Drove by REX emergency yesterday. At least a half a dozen ambulances were lined up. Seems unusual but I'm not in medicine. I know suicide attempts are an issue this time of year also.
