I know Google fiber is $70 for 1 Gig, $100 for 2 Gig, but what is the total? What are the taxes and fees? We are still on 6Mbps Frontier. It went from $36 to $46 because our contract expired. So it's getting more and more tempting to switch to Google.

50 bucks for 6Mbps down!!!! Holy schnikes
Unless you guys are hard up on the budget side of things, jumping to 1Gbps is a no brainer. 166 times the speed for 20 bucks more a month.
(obviously it all depends on use/need. I just added the 61st device to my home this AM, so my needs are obviously mine).
70 is all inclusive and includes two Google WiFi pucks (you own them).
Switch and don't look back.
I use all my own equipment (minus the fiber router) but it is pretty sweet they include mesh equipment in that cost (no rental fees above and beyond; in theory they could be rolled in).

I like the Google WiFi. I haven't had to reboot the fiber jack or the pucks once in the 6 months I've had it. It's crazy stable. My work VPN survives the entire night and weekend without disconnection - when I was on Spectrum I had to reconnect every morning.
In Spectrum's defense they were pretty stable as well, and any issues I had were likely due to my own equipment, but Google Fiber is another level.
Following this thread. This is good info from people using Google Fiber. Thanks!
I'm still kinda shocked that my area of North Raleigh (27614) near Bedford still does not have access to Google Fiber. I thought it would have reached this part of Raleigh by now, but have to admit I don't know what the process and criteria is for their expansion.
How was the fiber install process? I'm trying to figure out if they can run it to my network closet where Frontier comes in, or do they just put it in a place that is convenient for them? I can call Google but I'd like to hear real experience.
The pucks are wireless extenders?
Anyone know what version of wifi Google supports? I'm waiting to buy a new Amazon fire stick (4k max) to replace our unit from 2014. It's on wifi and tends to lose the signal.
We use wifi to work from home, stream audio and music.
Is Google fiber wifi fast enough that you don't need a wired ethernet or is that still a good idea? Our old smart TV is on wired ethernet. Fire stick is on wifi.

Internet access is tax exempt in all 50 states. If there is a rental component in your price, that would be taxable.
With respect to equipment, I have Centurylink fiber (1 gig) and use my own Google Mesh - very very satisfied with the Mesh.
