I just came off a 2 year promo price of $56 internet and landline and they only increased my price 10 bucks.

So looks like we will be paying less than we were before for three years. Gives me enough time to come up with an alternative solution to the price gouging .
Wait, did you have to sign up for this or did your old earthlink account roll-over into this? I'll need to take a closer look at my next bill.

And the inside box is small, easily fits in my low voltage panel in the closet.

I called and switched, they removed the EarthLink billing code and gave me the special price. It should be available for all current Earthlinkers I'd imagine. I think it was a way of competing with AT&T's special they were running on fiber.

I think I'm going to ride out the old EarthLink Extreme $41.95 for as long as I can. My 12/20-1/19 bill still referred to it as that, same price.

Well it's no different than cable modem so I'm not quite understanding the logic behind your objection to the fiber box being inside the house.

Except that I already have the small unobtrusive all-in-one cable modem/router ridden away nicely and the AT&T box has to be drilled through my siding and hung on my wall inside in an obnoxious place, yes no difference at all .

Couple that with the AT&T ineptitude (I was sent a bill for service weeks after I canceled the install) and the list keeps compounding.

Did I say I hate AT&T with a passion too?

My garage only has three outlets and none are near the wall where it would get installed so that was out plus I don't like having wires strung everywhere. Drives me nuts.

I just really like the simplicity of the current setup.
