I haven't cooked the turkey for thanksgiving since we moved here in 2012. If I'm going through all that work, it's gonna be a fresh turkey.
Who sells them in the Triangle? I'm not interested in paying extra for grass fed, free range, organic, massaged twice a day, or anything like that. I just want one that hasn't been frozen.
Fresh Market - $2.49/lb
Whole Foods - $2.49/lb
Harris Teeter - yes, but price unknown
Sprouts - yes, but price unknown (they were always my go-to in Phoenix)
I can't imagine that butchers market or Trader Joe's will be less than $2.49/lb (especially since I'm not interested in paying extra for organic, etc.d)

similar topic but what are people planning on doing for Thanksgiving this year?
I got an email from Angus Barn. It's close by and looks interesting. I think it's $160 for 4 people. It's just the two of us so we will have leftovers. Still waiting to see what Harris Teeter might do. Have heard good things about Fresh Market but it's on the other side of town. I'm in Brier Creek.
Another option is buying turkey breast from Harris Teeter. Then we get all the other things... cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, etc.
JK, what is a fresh turkey? You mean like a *live* turkey?
Turducken roulade from Fresh Market. Fresh Turkey/Duck/Chicken breast with Andouille sausage stuffing between layers. I get excited for these every Thanksgiving. Easy to roast in their netting after searing, stays moist, slices easily, and delicious with gravy over it. Pairs nicely with Grenache/Syrah/Mourvèdre (GSM) blends like a Châteauneuf-du-Pape or a nice Beaujolais or an earthy Pinot Noir. It makes great leftovers too—Turducken Pesto Pasta Primavera, Turducken Noodle Soup, etc. Feeds our 2 adults and 2 kids well for at least 3-4 meals.

Can you give me some idea of price, thanks? Have heard good things about FM.
