Thanks for the suggestions everybody! I don't think we're at the point to spring for a helicopter tour - I'd like to wait for our youngest to get a bit older and of course COVID to be a thing of the past, and actually when we watch helicopter videos on YouTube, he much rather prefers watching videos of them taking off, landing, and flying from the outside than POV videos taken from a passenger's perspective. That Jordan lake helicopter looks promising, although I'm getting mixed messages from their website as to whether that trail is open or not. I'll give them a call to get the real info. I think I'll investigate the national guard idea as well - that may be just what he's looking for.

This past weekend's weather was so perfect that we spent most of it outside in our yard, so we did get to see a ton of airplanes. He was quite happy.

It's near the parking area and trail head, not down a trail. I think the place closes down for the winter, so give them a call about open hours.
