Hi,
I'm moving to Raleigh end of May from Tallahassee FL and was wondering if anyone could advise me on safer (relatively) neighborhoods to live. I'm looking to rent an apartment/town home/condo for about $650. Also, since I'll be working at NC State university, areas with in 15-20 mins commute distance are necessary.
As I am totally lost(), any advice will be of great help.

Thanks in advance.

This is on the high end of your commute at 10 miles (close to 20 minutes) but i lived at The Village apartments in north raleigh (near strickland and lead mine). it's very safe and a one bedroom costs around $650. I don't think you should have any problems finding an apartment since there are about a million other places that are exactly the same.

My community in North Raleigh is very roomy and safe, Northridge Crossings.

BIG 1BR is around $700. We're on our fourth lease.

Check out the Apartments around Cameron Village. The Raleigh Apartments are great, inexpensive, and within walking distance to NC State. They are also affiliated with a number of other local apartments that you may be interested in, I've found them very helpful.
