Guys,

My daughter has been accepted to The University of Maryland, College Park Maryland but not familiar with the area. She will need to get an apartment very close to campus or one in a very safe neighborhood close by. Is there anyone familiar with the immediate and surrounding area that can give us some advice because I do not think they have on campus housing for Grad students as that may be reserved for Undergraduates.

I am a very concerned dad that would like to know that his daughter is safe especially not knowing the area etc. Thanks

I think you posted in the wrong forum. This is the Raleigh North Carolina forum. You were probably wanting to post in the Washington DC suburbs in Maryland forum

Join the U of MD Facebook page, if it's anything like my kids' schools it's going to be a good place to get info like this.

Congratulations! You're correct, grad students don't get on-campus housing. There's a housing shortage in the immediate vicinity (and most of the area immediately around campus is dominated by undergrads), so many students live a bit further from campus and use the university shuttle buses (or regional transit) to get to campus.

The College Park subform here is quite active, and so is the UMD subreddit.
