FYI there’s a UNC TV program about Oberlin Village that was actually pretty informative if you want to learn about the history of the area: https://www.pbs.org/video/oberlin-a-...reedom-qubmgq/

John Kerry married Teresa Heinz Kerry, who is heiress to the Heinz ketchup fortune, and had to sign a prenuptial agreement with her. Most of those belong to her and they do not currently own all the items that you listed. Your comment can easily be fact checked, but when have facts ever mattered to right wing supporters.

Hi, Jackie. I wonder: Did the prenup stipulate that John not use the six houses, the private jet, and the yachts? Or just that formal ownership stayed with her in case of death or divorce?
Maybe John has a pretty good deal after all -- he gets to use the toys without the responsibility for grotesque overconsumption and environmental destruction that he would so like to evade.

My mistake, I forgot that when one becomes wealthy, you are entitled to do what you wish and mandate to the peons. *cough* Al Gore "climate change" *cough* My fav was when DiCaprio took a private jet to accept a climate award...how's that for a fact?
I voted for Obama x2, Hillary, and Biden...who are these right ring supporters you are referring to?

Cmon Hamish, you have to get with the program: People like JackieRTP look the other way on hypocritical climate behavior (do what I say, not what I do) because they're liberals and the busted hypocrite votes and has political beliefs that Jackie likes, and demonstrate Kerry "CARES" and believes "SCIENCE" blah, blah, blah, and since when have facts ever mattered to left wing supporters? You're ____ phobic for calling out Kerry.

As someone who is left-leaning, there is a ton of virtue signaling from Democrats who appear to be progressive.
That's why we are focused on name changes instead of actual policies that could bring racial equity.

You people seem not to get the sarcasm in my suggestion. It was meant to evoke, "where does it stop? Go back even further to be true to the rationale for reaming based on the actions of those who settled the land before the era of slavery.
I think Black Americans should brag that their ancestors actually built this country from its inception, such as the White House. To me it's nothing to be ashamed of but rather a point of pride.
But that's just my opinion.
All of the hyper sensitivity about historical figures is going too far
I wonder how European countries deal with controversial figures in their bloody histories.
So much effort for so little tangible benefits in today's America, when we've got so many other pressing problems.
Such as backlash for people elected to congress who voted to impeach Trump.
America needs to be reminded that our federal government's purpose is not to advance political parties, it's to vote on what's best for the countty.
Loyal to a party over the country itself is treasonous.

I don't believe that the solution totally lies in government programs to give extra help to some to catch up with the other. That creates a permanent unlevel playing field.
But I do believe that the government could help in getting all citizens and workers participating in the same systems that currently bring wealth to some echelons on the backs of other lower-paid echelons who aren't even participating and therefore reap none of the benefits from the jobs they're performing.
The stock market, real estate or employee-owned companies should include everyone.
CVS, Walmart, etc should be giving s few shares of their stock to lower wage employees as part of their pay.
Productivity and worker morale is improved, and profits aren't squeezed out at the expense of the lowest paid workers.
A more equal America begins at the individual level, all of us treating and respecting one another unequivocally. That is the biggest determinant in the fortunes and strife that will affect people's lives.
But I agree that all of the focus on the past yields little in helping today.
