But what is so ridiculous is that as an adult you should realize that any effort to solve a problem will include hypocritical actions because that's all there is to mobilize,,

and worst is the stance that it's an all or nothing dilemma, so that if you can find one little piece of data that doesn't support the theory that it's all baloney, there is no problem at all, and energy is better spent attacking personalities of the people bringing it to the world's attention.

That mindset is destroying this country as we speak.

12 yrs olds in 6th grade likely could come up with more rational responses to the issues facing us today..

That's why we are focused on name changes instead of actual policies that could bring racial equity.

There hasn't been a law that fosters racial inequity in 50 plus years. I would like to hear the policies that would bring "racial equity".

One example would be criminal justice reform - it is shocking how many people we lock up for minor crimes or nonviolent offenses. Once you're in the prison system, you're pretty much doomed to a cycle of poverty and crime. At the least, if we can keep juveniles out of this system as much as possible, the more these people are able to support themselves and their families (the whole "war on drugs" is just stupid, 1 in 5 African Americans spend time behind bars due to drug laws)

You must be a fan of our ex POTUS then.
I agree with CJ reform, but there is nothing inherently racist with the existing laws.
If drugs are rampant in a certain area, what is the solution? Many believe its more policing. Allowing the trafficking of drugs doesn't help the community, only those controlling the distribution.

Don't worry though, its only a matter of time before the gov't takes full control of the drug racket, just as they do/have done with every profitable racket.

The last POTUS falsely claimed climate change was a hoax and was the number one source of COVID-19 misinformation. Both climate change and COVID-19 are factually based on scientific evidence. I am not clear why someone would want to ignore science that challenges your preconceived notions.

Maybe John has a pretty good deal after all -- he gets to use the toys without the responsibility for grotesque overconsumption and environmental destruction that he would so like to evade.
As stated before, he does not own these items and it is not the number that you suggested. Feel free to fact check your comment. Clearly I am not privy to the terms of his prenuptial agreement with her.

It was definitely a good step by Trump to reduce mandatory minimum sentences. I certainly do not think like most left-leaning people and think that "everything orange man = bad", there were certainly some positives from his administration and this was one of them. That only affects federal prisoners though and there is much more that still needs to be done at the state level.

I think the country is well on its way to legalizing marijuana, possession should no longer be a crime that people should be thrown into jail for. At the least, that's the next step forward. Last year, slightly more than a half million people were arrested for marijuana possession (more than the arrests made for violent crime) and of those arrests, 92% of them were for possession and not selling/growing or distributing. (As for the race part, despite equal use of marijuana by whites and blacks, black people were 3-4 times more likely to be arrested for possession charges)

That's just one example, there are multiple things that can be tweaked to help even out income inequality in this country - controlling out of control post-secondary education costs (since you need them for a majority of jobs today), creating initiatives and capital to encourage people to start their own businesses, progressive tax rates and closing tax loopholes, access to high speed internet etc..... (Getting money/lobbying out of politics and affordable health care but I have little hope on those fronts lol)
