I grew up in an adjacent neighborhood and lived in that area for much of my adult life and am back in the area now frequently, and I don't ever recall hearing anyone call it "The Village." There's the Village Deli and there was The Village Subway, but I've always called it Cameron Village as has everyone I've ever known from the area.

My husband worked on Oberlin Road many many years ago. It was within walking distance of Cameron Village.

There were about 12 people in his office, all from this area (Raleigh, Garner,).

Every one of them called it The Village.

Kinda reminds me of when people say..."There aren't many people from Raleigh that still live in Raleigh". Perception. Not always correct.

Very common for people to say “ I’m going over to the village to shop” or “going out to the village” Could have been more common with women.

That is neat. He came to the Y to one of the Y dances for junior high kids back around 77. You would’ve thought Elvis was in the building. Was Randy Denton in your class?

Randy came back for our 40th class reunion...cowboy clothes, hat and all. At the end of the evening the DJ played YMCA. We all went nuts, and Randy enjoyed it more than anyone. The 50th was cancelled due to COVID. Randy Denton was class of 1967 I believe. I heard that he now lives in Raleigh.

This is a bit mind-blowing for me kind of like when I found out some people apparently call the old Village Subway the Village Underground. They are of course wrong. I lived right next door, and practically lived in Cameron Village as a kid. I had a job at one of the stores in high school. Much of my adult life I lived within walking distance. I never once recall hearing anyone call it "the village." Maybe we need a poll.

I have never heard it either. Not once.
