My son hates it here in Greenville and doesn't feel like there is anyones else like him here (high functioning autism). I dread going back to driving on the roads in the Triangle- hated it 7 years ago, but I know overall there is more of everything we like there, except for hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains, which is what has kept me sane (or fairly so) this past year.
I miss Pita House in Greenville.

The Fiction Kitchen is definitely my favorite vegan restaurant around here.

Pita House is our favorite place! Excellent falafel and hummus. Boys like the gyros. I know there is a middle eastern place in WF; hope it's good. Yes have heard about Fiction Kitchen and can't wait to try it!

Tons of great Mediterreanean places around here - Sassool is my favorite (there's also Neomonde, though I'm giving them a little bit of a break after some sexual abuse allegations). There's a place in Apex called Vegan Community Kitchen that is great also, Raleigh Raw, Fresh Levant Bistro and Aladdin's Eatery.

I'm living here fourteen years and only regret not having moved here sooner.

People who have been here more than 20-25 years generally hate on the growth the area has experienced, and I get that. But while the development sprawl continues, planned communities almost always factor in the support infrastructure and related services that make things works (e.g., including retail space including a grocery store, better traffic management techniques), and new shops and restaurants are opening constantly.

Traffic has only gotten worse in areas where developers are building out new communities in places where the roads simply don't scale well; we used to live just of Highway 98 and Old Creedmoor Road and that area was becoming unbareable during peak commute times. But that's only because the \way in/out were via two lane roads not designed to accommodate extra traffic. Since relocating to the other side of North Raleigh and into a planned community, traffic is mostly a non-issue.

This still feels like a modern take on Southern living, you know you're in the Bible Belt living here, but definitely nowhere near the buckle. And so I think it's better now than ten years ago because while growing, the Triangle has retained its personality.

Improved is pretty subjective. It has certainly grown by leaps and bounds.

Yes! We sold our home in that exact area in the spring and feel we got out just in time. They are just beginning the new neighborhoods on Mount Vernon Church and our realtor showed us that a company is buying up all the land along Old Creedmoor towards 98. Creedmoor can be a scary drive too, it needs more guardrails in spots. I definitely don't miss hearing the target practice or seeing confederate flags, it feels like another world living where we are now near the Village District. That area is very pretty though and we loved being close to Falls Lake. We have several friends that have moved in the last couple years due to 98 traffic.

Yes have been to Sassool and Aladdin's- love the lentil soup at Aladdin's! I had forgotten about those places.

Been here for 31 years. Like others have said, some changes have been good, notably the growth of downtown Raleigh and Durham. Most changes, in my opinion, have ruined the character of the area. Suburban sprawl, clear cutting, monotonous & identical houses & apartments, and the traffic. Yes, we know traffic isn't as bad as <insert place you came from>. We don't care. We're here because we liked what this place was.

As of Feb 2020, both downtowns were significantly better than a decade before. I guess we're going to have to see if we regressed 2 years or 10 years when we finally re-open.
