Interested to please hear your thoughts, how is Raleigh/Durham now, compared with a previous decade ago? I mean from say 2010-12 time (give or take, even earlier is fine). But just last 10-15 years. Thank you
There certainly are some growing pains in the area. I wouldn't say that it's unique to Raleigh, it's pretty much the same in every growing US city. We're just a few years behind some other cities like Denver and Austin.
No. Not really. Too many people moving here. It is one of the fastest growing areas in the country. You don't want a decrease in population, but the massive influx of newcomers and all the construction and all the cars wears on you. There's new cool stuff going on, but there was cool stuff going on 10, 20, 30 years ago too.
I actually posted this on the general forum. It's some "side by side" streetviews of Raleigh over the last 9 years or so. https://www.city-data.com/forum/60400793-post26.html
Count me among those who say that it's improved!

Our roads are inadequate and there is no realistic hope for fixing the traffic problem. Covid-related budget cuts crippled the NCDOT road improvement plans.
The North Carolina Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (NC CAMPO) ... https://www.campo-nc.us/mapsdata
... has maps of traffic forecasts. It's not a pretty picture.

Just makes me sad. Soooo many of those same stupid apartments. They are everywhere all over the country! No character.
I guess it depends on what you mean by "improved". Some things are better. Some aren't. I can't help but agree with poppydog about the apartments, and we don't even live near each other.
