As recently seen in TBJ, if you are a millionaire ("accredited investor") with $100K+ in unrealized capital gains burning a hole in your ample wallet, you can get this tower out of the ground and perhaps save a bit on taxes. Just have your people call their people:

The tallest building in Raleigh is the 32-story PNC Plaza downtown.

The proposed 40-story buildings would replace two parking lots along Six Forks Road. The 30-story building would be at the back side of the development, along Interstate 440, while the smallest of the four would be at the north side of the Lassiter at North Hills shopping center.

What's cool is that you can now see the North Hills cluster of towers as far away as Rolesville on US401 Southbound.

In the late 80s I was the airport shuttle driver for the North Raleigh Hilton.

My passengers were some teenagers from some Northeastern city and after asking about where a golds gym was I replied that there was one out on Durant just outside the city limits.

They smirked and said, "What city?" as an insult to the tree-filled Beltline that didn't qualify.

Later that night they wanted me to take them to Burger king up Wake Forest road and they'd walk back to the hotel.

I was happy that on the walk home was the one little instance where you could see one building the 21 story white with black vertical windows building in the distance at nightime.

they were shown what city they were in, lol.

Back when that hotel, the former Holiday Inn at Crabtree, the Marriott at Crabtree, and the long-gone Sheraton at Crabtree were the only upscale hotels north of the Beltline! Well, I suppose the Royal Villa that's now Providence Baptist on Glenwood would count, too. (That's the hotel with the massive food poisoning outbreak in 1977.) Any others?

The New York developer behind the planned development of the Creamery site in Glenwood South has filed site plans with the city, calling for a pair of mixed-use towers with the tallest 32 stories tall.

Turnbridge Equities filed the plans this week, titled The Creamery, showing the addition of a 32-story residential tower and 20-story office tower altogether totaling around 976,000 square feet of space.

“We’re excited to take the next step in our development around the historic Creamery,” said Jason Davis, Turnbridge Equities Managing Director. “Turnbridge is eager to develop a best-in-class retail, office, and residential project that will add to the vibrancy of Glenwood South and make the neighborhood an even better place to live, work, and play.”

Developers hope a planned 40-story tower will become a significant project that expands the northern edge of downtown Raleigh.

The Raleigh City Council unanimously approved the rezoning request for the 1.5-acre parcel Tuesday. The building can now have 40 stories instead of 12, and up to 1,466 residential units and 1.7 million square feet of building space.

Located at 506 Capital Blvd. near the intersection of Peace Street and Capital, it sits directly across from the planned third stage of Kane Realty’s Smoky Hollow development. The first phase of Smoky Hollow includes the recently opened Publi
