I can't answer your question, but wanted to offer my opinion. The reason we put pets under anesthesia to have there teeth cleaned is to to a thorough cleaning. It's not like you can say open your mouth and sit still. Some dogs will tolerate it to a certain point. We also scale up underneath the gumline to remove the tarter. We use a light anesthesia consisting of gas. Once we turn it off, they wake up very quickly. As long as your pet is healthy and you do bloodwork beforehand, your pet should do fine.
