We are moving to the area next month. Non-Anesthesia dental cleaning is popular where we currently live but I can't seem to find the same service in the Raleigh area. Does this exist?

I believe it does as I recall hearing about this a couple years ago when I was contemplating having my dog's teeth cleaned. It's not as thorough a cleaning as that done while they are under anesthesia, so I opted to have my dog's teeth cleaned while she was undergoing surgery for something else. Keep looking as I know it does exist in the Raleigh area. Check with some grooming places as they might know who is doing it.

I can't answer your question, but wanted to offer my opinion. The reason we put pets under anesthesia to have there teeth cleaned is to to a thorough cleaning. It's not like you can say open your mouth and sit still. Some dogs will tolerate it to a certain point. We also scale up underneath the gumline to remove the tarter. We use a light anesthesia consisting of gas. Once we turn it off, they wake up very quickly. As long as your pet is healthy and you do bloodwork beforehand, your pet should do fine. Good luck finding a place and just wanted to give my 2 cents being a Cetified Vet Tech.
