Back to our subject: What are main differences between Durham and Raleigh? I know someone considering retirement in either one. (She wanted Asheville-Hendersonville, but housing prices are through the roof there. Oh well, she has good taste anyway.) So ... Durham vs. Raleigh: quality of life, walkability, safety, amenities, environment, etc. Any opinions? Thanks.

One has bad pizza.
The other has worse pizza.

Any total idiot can see that.

Stressed-out people should move to North Carolina, especially a great place like Asheville. Less stress = wiser pizza-eating. Just wish Asheville was still affordable. It's really become the Santa Fe of the Deep South.

Great pizza or lousy, an 18-in. pizza still gets you 5,000 calories and jeans that don't fit.

Homo sapiens actually require calories to sustain life.

Just one problem with that line: your average fairly sedentary modern Homo sapiens (who isn't a teenager or isn't a linebacker). The average American woman over 25 requires just 1,800-2,000 calories daily. Average man, 2,500 max. Those 5,000-cal., 18-in. pizzas aren't a great "regular fit" for regular Homo sapiens.

That's an interesting perspective and quite a bit out of touch. The US average home price for a 3/2 home right now is 330K. There's currently 120 3 bedroom/2 bath homes for sale in the Asheville area market priced from 250K-350K, and on the other hand Santa Fe has just 29 which makes the statement half accurate.

Actually, if one screens out the homes that are under contract on your link, one may see 34 Active listings.

And, that includes houses south of Hendersonville. Ouch....

I had the best neopolitan pizza in the Boston area this weekend at a place in Chelsea, MA called Ciao! Pizza - prosciutto, arugula, mozzarella/gorgonzola, port and fig jam, balsamic vinegar = chefs kiss

Definitely less stressed now after that
