Yeah agreed that the "goodbye RTP hello DT Raleigh" argument is a silly one.

Will Eastern Wake grow considerably in the coming decade and continue the trend of increasing development? Of course!

Will that be because "RTP is out" and "DT Raleigh is in"? ....no not by a longshot (not that the two are mutually exclusive by any stretch; both are great at attracting employers) . Western Wake will come with a cost-premium for the foreseeable/survivable future because of its closer proximity to RTP/Durham/Chapel Hill even at the expense of being further from Downtown Raleigh than Knightdale is (but still not "far" from DT Raleigh by any stretch)

The growth of Eastern Wake County is due to an expansion of prosperity in the Triangle; not a shift/re-shuffling of it.

I did not think there would be this much discussion.

After my last visit, I asked a couple people who live out that way and they said that there is a bunch of stuff that has been approved and is under construction. One sent me a link to the Town's map that shows the new stuff:

It also looks like some of the people with buildings in downtown are finally doing something about them.
