There have been rumors that the Tramway community, where traffic lights appear on the only part of US 1 from Raleigh to Aberdeen, would be relocated in favor of it becoming a highway or maybe be bypassed. But it's only rumors as far as I know. As for getting it as a highway to Rockingham, it's not going to happen. Too much local pressure to keep it flowing through Aberdeen and not enough resources to build a bypass there either.

Never apologize for what you believe in! If we all had the same opinion,
the world would be one boring place. It's all good!

I realize you didn't want to see actual pics of Sanford, but
I was curious to see if I had any on my Flickr page? Turns
out I did, if the link works? Moore County Hospital has a
nice facility across the street from me in addition to
Lee County Hospital.

You are one hell of a photographer. Those are really nice. I consider DT Sanford to be pretty charming, but your pictures go beyond that.

Short aside: I noticed the picture of the cow on the side of Yarborough's Ice Cream. I used to be married to that family (my ex-wife's maiden name). I still love to get ice-cream there, and the occasional burger, dog or Bologna Sammich...

Thank you Myghost for the kind words. Yarborough's Ice Cream
is some good eating. I'm getting hungry now just from reading
your post!

Tramway could be bypassed by building a new, controlled-access extension whose north end is halfway between the Palomino and the Wicker interchange and whose south end is the split between 1 and 15-501. Wouldn't be cheap.

Thanks for the info goldenage1 and builder24car! Is Triangle Brick in Sanford? You know what's funny? My husband and l drove around Jordan Lake to F-V and on the way back l noticed that there were no signs along the road to tell you when you left one town and picked up another as is customary in the Midwest. Something else we took for granted

There usually are, but a lot of that area is between actual towns.

No ma'am, Triangle Brick is in what I would call Merry Oaks?
I say that because CSX does switching right next to the plant
and they refer to it as Merry Oaks. Sanford used to be called
the brick capital of the world, but Sanford Brick has been long
gone. Lee Brick in Sanford is still going strong, right down the road from me.

I think they call it the Merry Oaks plant internally.
