I am looking for a place to buy a mother of the bride dress. i did a search, with not much luck. I even checked the "auction" site (not sure if I'm allowed to say the name)
I'm looking for a place where I can get a dress under $200, and I also need a plus size dress. If someone knows of a resale place that might be worth checking out, that would be good too.
The wedding is in June, but I'll need the dress ASAP.
I've only been in the state a few years, and have needed to know about this bridal market before now!
With gas prices so high, I called many places like belk, macy's, etc and asked about their selction of dresses of this style and size. I had no luck - maybe 2-3 dresses to choose from, - not worth the trip.
I still need to check on Bridal World. Today (Sun.) they are closed, and their website only has one clickable link for Mother of the Bride dresses - I saw them, but nothing looked right for me. But I'll still call to see how much of a selection they have before making the trip.
I do have hope in something else I found - Plus Size Bridal in the Outlet Village of Burlington. It's a whole store for just plus sizes. i saw their web site and there are quite a few that I liked! I will call them to get more info about selection, etc (it's an hour away), but this looks like the best option so far.
There must be some resale stores that sale dresses like this. I searched, and even called 2 of them, but no luck so far. However, if someone knows of a place like to consider, I'm intersted.
I forgot.. I shopped with a plus size friend a few months back for a graduation dress
and she found a big selection of gorgeous dresses for less than $150 at Dress Barn
Woman. There is one at Northgate shopping Center in Durham and one in Airport
Road Outlet mall. The one in Durham seemed better. Dress Barn is regular sizes, but Dress Barn Woman is plus sizes. Are you looking for a long dress ???
Don't limit yourself to "mother of the bride" dresses! There are so many better styles out there. Any good department store should have a good selection of formal dresses. That is where I would start. Good Luck!
