OP, How are you doing? Hope your health is improving. Have you made any relocation decisions?

Doing well, thanks. We're not making any decisions until we can travel again and see places in the flesh. The Triangle is still on the list, specifically Fearrington. Seems like a nice place to age.

I've never seen the Triangle but heard good things about it. I wish you luck with your decisions.

We only have been to Raleigh once, quite some time ago. It felt comfortable, and I remember it had nice greenery.

But unlike most cities, it didn't seem to have a lot of "there" there. No retail to speak of, not really a core.

There's so much growth in the Triangle. Raleigh could really be a great little city. And since it would be the ONLY city close to Chapel Hill, I'm curious what the vision is for it going forward. Having a fun city near to where we live is one factor in where we move.

Just doing my due diligence.
Raleigh's downtown pedestrian and outdoor dining scene extending up through Glenwood South and Peace Street is about the coolest in the state. Very active, young people, laid back and hip.

Cameron Village is what I first thought of. It's walkable and supposedly the first "strip" outdoor shopping center in the Southeast. A few years ago there was a 5 year waiting list for retail space there.

Raleigh intown is cooler than it's ever been.

Google the train station "Raleigh Union Station" and the Warehouse District.

.
I prefer Asheville and Chapel Hill's, but I'd call Raleigh a solid 3rd.
