Between my wife and I (I work 3 days a week in the office) with us having roughly 4-5 weeks of vacation a year I calculated we pay about $1,550 a year between the both of us to use the toll road. It saves us both about 10 minutes in the AM and 10 minutes in the PM on our drive from Apex to different locations in RTP. While that doesn't sound like a whole lot it adds up to about 144 hours a year in saved commuting time. That comes out to a cost of about $10.76 per hour we save in commuting. Between the both of us that is well worth the cost of saved time.

Not only the time savings, but with less wear and tear, without the stop and go traffic and driving a reasonable speed we probably get approx. 20% better gas mileage, which would save us another $450-$550 in gas savings per year making our toll cost less than $7 per hour saved in commuting. For us, using the toll road is a no-brainer!

I wasn’t too clear. I want to know what each gate costs. I have to track my mileage and expenses for work. I’d love some real time way to track but I’ll never get that, so I just look at the signs and usually enter the costs into my calculator so I can reference it later. Usually I can remember them all by about November, then they change them again, LOL.

I ended up making most of what I want. I have to double check the numbers next time I drive it and remember the tolls at the 147/540 junction.
