How can I get rid of old gasoline and keep the container?

I asked about this for the Wake County Household Hazardous Waste Collection facility. hey said that I can take the gas there, but I would need to leave the container it is in.

I have it in a few containers and I want to keep them. Anyone know how I can get rid of old gas and keep the container?

When your car is over half full, just add the gas to it. The gas in the tank will dilute the old gas.
You might filter any dirt out, but heck.....
Burn it and get the value out of it.

Put the gas into a container you don't care about?

Some auto parts stores will take old gas - some will only take oil.

If your local hazardous waste site will only take in a container, go to nearly any yard sale and buy a junky old gas can and drop it off.

I’ve always done that. Just a little bit at a time. I’m using up some generator gas from last summer now. I pour in a gallon or two when I fill up. No issues at all.

I keep my "old gas" in a container in the same place I keep my Fire-pit when not in use. It makes a helluva good starter.

"Hold my beer".

If you have a recent vehicle (with a capless gas tank), be sure to use the funnel that is often in the tire storage area.
