SO and I talked about canceling Prime before renewal at higher rate. Then, I needed King sized pillow cases (not entire sheet set) and flashlight black lights. They arrived in about 24 hours to my front door proving value in the Prime Service. Not sure a quick shopping trip would have such little impact to my life.
I also make returns to Amazon from the local UPS store, having the barcode on my phone scanned.
Remember when folks liked to hate on Walmart? Now, some see it as a reasonable alternative to evil Amazon. LOL
Looking back at some of the items that were going to take 4 to 5 days to ship to my house a few weeks ago, it looks like they're back to being next day now.
I don't think slow down was weather related since it wasn't even bad here for long, and the areas north of here that still had same day to 2 day shipping times got far worse. I'm guessing it was something more along the lines of a worker shortage issue which is understandable.
Whatever the case though, the announced price increase might be what gets me to finally cancel my membership. While occasionally convenient, the shipping benefit just isn't that big of a deal to me, certainly not worth $139 a year.
I've only been keeping Prime for the past several years mostly for the video streaming. They have some niche things that aren't available elsewhere. I just need to figure out now if it's worth almost $12 a month for it all especially since I have other streaming subscriptions. They'll need to keep up their offerings though.
Now Netflix is raising their prices, I was about to cancel that anyway, for some time it's been either pretty stale content or content that doesn't interest me .
I inquired via Support chat with Netflix about the price increase. When I fired up Netflix later I got a menu to either continue with a price increase to $15-something or gen the basic at $9.99. I thought the change was coming in March but seems I triggered it with my Support chat, too coincidental otherwise.
The tiers are below.
I get that everything is going up, but even before Covid I felt with some exception that their content was getting tired and stale, and understandably so during Covid. The analysis suggests they may be shooting themselves in the foot.
Netflix is cranking up its price by a buck or two every couple of years simply because it can. It’s safe to assume it’ll continue doing so, too.
Basic allows one stream, as well as episode/movie downloads to a single phone or tablet for offline viewing. Standard allows two streams, and it downloads to two offline phones or tablets. Premium allows four streams, and it downloads to four offline phones or tablets.

Indeed someone noted likely weather when i posted this and they are the winner. Interesting that Amazon shipping estimators take forecasts into account now. I confirm most items are back to expected delivery timelines.
I knew there was SOMETHING about our area that was off at a company level. Good to learn it was not that the Triangle is financially non-viable
That being said, Walmart pulled through and got me like 8 of 10 items within 2-3 days. Good to know there are other options these days.
