I have a friend who just moved into a house with a ton of windows. It is new constrcution and there are no blinds or curtains of any kind. He and his wife are having a "lovers quarrel" over what kind of window treatments to get and in the menatime they feel like they are living in a fishbowl. I heard of some product that is basically a temporary "stick-on" liner you can put on windows to block the view without blocking light, but I can't seem to remember what the product is called or where you can buy it. Anybody here know what I am talking about? It will save my buddies marriage as I think it will be a while before they can both agree on a permanent solution!
Yes....you can purchase something like that at Home Depot (and probably alot of other places too). Essentially, it's plastic with adhesive on one side. There are several different patterns available. For example, you can make the window look like stained glass.

Yeah, my wife and I used these when we first moved in to our house. (Actually, we still have a rear door leading onto our deck that has one over its window one year later, since we'll be replacing that door in the coming year! LOL.)
The name of the product is Redi-Shades -- Lowe's, Home Depot, etc. should all have them.

You can also buy paper pleated shades at Lowe's or Home Depot. They look like a pleated shade, held up with an adhesive strip, cut to fit with scissors. They normally come with clips if you want to raise them during the day or something.
In fact, I think I still have one up in my basement storage area in the back of the house...lol!

Personally, I think these are a great option, because they really look like shades. I worked at the Parade of Homes Gold Winner this year, listed for $2.175M, and the interior designer used these in the au pair suite with some nice wide ribbon to hold them up halfway. They looked absolutely beautiful. I didn't even notice they were cheap paper shades until I had been there a few days!

Once again, I am laughing out loud at my computer screen! Actually, this home is by DenMark Construction, who, in my opinion, pays some of the best attention to detail around. I have been consistently impressed with the craftsmanship at ALL price points. And no, I'm not a builder's agent.

Hmm... a ton of windows. Why would they think they're living in a fishbowl?

LOL
Nothing says class like The Wall Street Journal taped up to the windows.
They're called Redi-Shades...you can get them at Home Depot. After a while the adhesive can take the paint off when you take them down. I used clear push pins to mount them instead of the sticky strip.
