I've noticed that some of the crimes committed here are actually done by people that actually live in Rocky Mount. One of the recent strings of them was done by a group of 4 from that area. Two were actually out on bond pending murder and attempted murder charges.

most of the surges in crime in all cities are fueled by gangs. Here in NC there's been an uptick of it in Greensboro, High Point, Rocky Mount, Durham and Fayetteville, to name a few. ( most all the larger cities, really )
That being said...never should bond be considered for murder charges , imho. It happens all too often only allowing the thugs back out on the streets to carry on as usual or possibly even " skip" to another country.
Guess all of NC is fair game in terms of the “it” State….Nash county is suffering especially with the loss of the QVC warehouse…wonder who besides the greed puts this out to the media…
Talk about misleading coverage of a dumb study. The methodology is simply percent of views on listings in a city that come from people outside of the area. It says nothing about actual interest. Rocky Mount is losing population.
An alternate way to spin it is maybe very few in Rocky Mount are interested in staying in the area and purchasing a new house there. Or maybe a lot of people think they'll like Rocky Mount and look at listings as a more affordable option to the Triangle, but then learn more about the area and decide not to move there.
Good Lord who would want to live in Rocky Mount? Yeah the housing might be priced "desirably" but i can't think of another single "desirable" factor that would make me want to live in Rocky Mount. Ewww Gross. It's "desirable" for home prices because nobody wants to live there.
It’s kind of unreal that Downtown Rocky Mount hasn’t experienced a rebirth at all. I’ve seen smaller towns across NC that have had more activity in their downtown than Rocky Mount. In due time, I think it’s inevitable that Rocky Mount will turn things around but it will require long term vision as far as creating employment opportunities to mitigate crime, invest in bringing business downtown and exploit having a Amtrak station, and really good marketing to shed its reputation as a murder capital of NC.
That really is all that amounts to, too...big yikes. Especially if the previous poster is correct and they're basing their list off of views of listings, and not even actual showings or purchases? ...Yikes...

Did I hear there have been 10 homicides in Rocky Mount this year?
I think a lot has to do with the proximity to 95. This is usually a factor in big trafficking areas.
Sorry to dog on RM, I'm sure there are good pockets. They lost a major employer this year that wont rebuild. I hope they plan on filing the gap with something other than Amazon warehouses to diversify the industries.
